We are so lucky!

We are so lucky so very very lucky to be alive don’t you think?  The people of Christchurch have had a horrendous weekend to be woken in the early hours of saturday morning by an earthquake.  Thank goodness that there has been no loss of life and hopefully there will not be.  Christchurch can pat themselves on the back because they strengthened their buildings 10 years ago and are seeing positive results from that this weekend.  Many many homes and businesses will be condemned but buildings can be replaced people can’t.

However now the long clean up begins.  Many people are still not in their homes and do not have water or sewage.  Lives have been tossed around and will take a long time to be gathered back to some order.  Businesses will be at risk of folding and we must not underestimate the impact of this earthquake on the rest of New Zealand.

But for now we are blessed that we are safe and warm, we have good lives and the people of Christchurch will keep on keeping on.  For today let’s be grateful for what we have and who we have in our lives.

Recession??

You know I’ve been thinking I think the whole word recession is so negative.  Yes people are hunting, have lost jobs and are having to make choices they didn’t think they would need to.  But you know we always have tough times in our lives.  No one goes with out pain.

So we can choose how we deal with this.   I see alot of people being made redundant and by no means are they feeling sorry for themselves.  Once the normal feelings of anger and resentment are dealt with most of these people get on with their lives.  Those who dwell in the why me and there’s nothing I can do zone really need to pick themselves up and get on.  On the other hand make sure you also have very very good friends and support to get you through this cause you know we don’t need to do things alone.
