We’ve just moved house and for nearly a week we didn’t have a TV and even now we only have 3 channels and no sky tv either. Wow it has been so interesting observing myself and realising the time I used previously to watch TV. I sat down one night after a busy day and thought what did I used to do at 7.00pm at night? Well I used to watch TV. But why?? Cause it’s there I said to myself. But, but most of the time it is poor entertainment and not very riveting and yet I still watched telly!
I used to have the TV on first thing in the morning and come in and out of the room having breakfast when the Breakfast show was on. Now I don’t. I realise I do not want that kind of noise in the morning, the banter of the presenters and don’t want to hear the news, usually negative news, continually repeated. Just need to get the music set up now to listen to something a bit more soothing and inspiring to start the day.
I have been reading more and realised one of the reasons I haven’t been reading as much is because I would slump in front of TV. I had got out of the practice of focusing on reading. Well life without much TV has begun!
I wonder if my creativity will unfold more? Also I’ve been wondering what our children and teenagers are absorbing and how it affects them, if as an adult I feel distracted and lack concentration?
There are some wonderful TV programmes that are educational and entertaining and from now on I am going to be far more discerning! 🙂
