The title of Wonderful Technology is written with jaw clenched tight as I struggle to keep up to date, well actually just be up to date with technology.  I’ve been wanting to create a new format of my newsletter for a while but new I needed to use technology to do this.  I struggled myself for a while – it’s so annoying when people say “oh use this product it’s so easy to use”.  But when I came to use the product it really wasn’t that easy for a non techo like me.  Invariably the people who say those things are ether IT trained, have a technical brain or are under 30 years of age!  As I became frustrated with trying to do it myself I realised I was wasting my time and should get my website person to do it.  Much better use of my resources and yes I have other talents!  This doesn’t let me off the hook to keep up with technology eg iPads, iPods, downloading music etc etc but it is about recognising when it will be useful for me to learn some new technology and when it is not.  How often do we push ourselves to do “the right thing” when it might not be the right thing for us?  I do need to put time aside to learn new technology that is clear for me to keep up with our ever-changing world however it is nice to give myself permission to choose what is important for me to learn and what is not.  Phew!
