I’ve been chatting to a few people in the market recently to find out what the job market is like. The general trend is that the market is busier in some areas. I spoke to Angela at Jobs with Salt and her feedback was that they are busier, there is more temp work available probably because some staff were let go last year or they didn’t replace staff when they left and now that business has improved the business needs assistance. Though not quite ready to take on permanent staff. The other areas that there is some movement in is in Sales, Accounting and Human Resources. I also spoke to an HR person in a large accounting firm and they are finding that people are starting to move but perhaps not into new jobs but moving into jobs that others have vacated, so the cycle of vacancies is beginning to open up.
If you are starting to look for a new role try SALT – an agency that has been around a long time with very experienced staff.
Good to hear that there appears to be an improvement in the employment market
